Maybe you can relate.
HERE’S MY STORY…
Growing up as a multi-passionate creative, as well as a perfectionist recovering perfectionist, meant I was really good at a lot of different things.
Being an Enneagram 8—The Challenger—meant I naturally challenged the status quo and often chose to forge my own path.
So when I graduated college, instead of taking my shiny new degree to a big-time agency, I started my own.
AND THAT’S WHEN IT GOT REAL, Y’ALL.
That’s me, when I was first starting out!
I’VE SPENT A DECADE OBSESSING OVER WHAT WORKS AND WHAT DOESN’T—IN BUSINESS AND IN LIFE.
WHEN I STARTED BUILDING A DIGITAL AGENCY, I QUICKLY FOUND THAT…
Each new level of business brought new opportunities to help others level up in business, too!
This meant I was constantly learning and sharpening new skills.
Here I am growing through my career
→ When I was experimenting with using video in my marketing, my clients were interested in videography. So I introduced them to my videographer, made a shot list, and stood in as producer.
→ I started learning SEO, my clients needed SEO.
→ I wanted stronger web copy, my clients needed stronger web copy.
→ I dabbled in paid advertising, my clients needed paid advertising.
→ And when phrases like “Digital Marketing For Small Businesses” began to flood my Google search history, I became a certified digital marketer so I could answer not just my questions, but their questions, too.
→ As I was growing my brand, I started helping business owners with their branding.
→ When I launched my first website, I started helping my branding clients with their websites.
→ When Social Media became all the rage, I knew I needed a well-rounded digital presence in order to compete. That’s when I started helping my clients elevate their digital presence, too. (Boy, was that a scary leap!)
→ When I updated my brand photos, my clients asked about brand photography. So, I introduced them to my photographer, and lead the branding and creative direction for their photo sessions.
And Now,
After 10+ years of bootstrapping, learning, growing, honing skills, building a team, releasing the team, hustling, and wearing all the hats that go along with digital business, I’m ready to take the next steps forward in my career.
BECAUSE HERE’S THE THING…
There’s one lesson I’ve been learning lately that, in all these years of business, I had yet to realize.
No matter what you have planned for yourself, no matter how big and well intentioned your dreams are, God’s plans are bigger. And His plans are better. And the calling He has on your life will make itself known, regardless of how much you try to resist it, or fight it.
“Many are the plans in a person's heart, but it is the Lord's purpose that prevails.” (Proverbs 19:21)
Recently, God revealed to me that the path I was on was not His path, and that He has something planned for me that I cannot achieve as a freelancer, team of one.
SO I’M DREAMING BIGGER!
I’M OPENING MYSELF UP TO SERVE A LARGER CAUSE AND LIVE MORE IN ALIGNMENT WITH GOD’S PURPOSE.
What’s next?
My desire is to use my gifts, talents, skills, and industry experience to serve at an organization that is driving God’s mission forward.
I’m looking to serve as a creative and/or leader in an organization that will see my variety of skills and abilities, and place me exactly where God needs me to be used.
I’m prepared to continue to hone my skills, as well as learn new ones—that will never change. And I’m excited to see where this next season of design, creativity, marketing, and digital savvy will lead!
